I’d like to devote the pastor’s corner this week to Development and Peace’s fall campaign. Last Sunday, you saw the video and received information on this year’s campaign theme, “Share the Journey” – the horrible journey, that is, of forced migration, the harrowing journey that is reality for 68.5 million people in our world, at the present time. Development and Peace couldn’t have chosen a more timely, more important theme to be brought to our awareness.
I will leave it to our parish Development and Peace team to speak to you about the actions which we are suggesting in line with this year’s theme. I simply hope that you will read the excellent, informative documents that were shared with you as inserts to last week’s parish bulletin. I hope that you will fill out and sign the cards that will be sent to our Canadian Prime Minister.
I hope and pray finally that when the day comes for us to sponsor a refugee family as a parish, this initiative will be met with widespread enthusiasm, blessing, and support.
God bless and protect all the migrants in our troubled world.
And God bless our parish Development and Peace committee for bringing their plight to our attention.
