Monday, February 2, 2026 – Feast of the Presentation of Our Lord
Mass Time: 8:00 AM
Special Rite: The Blessing of Candles. According to the Roman Missal, candles are blessed on this day, symbolizing Christ as the Light of the World. Parishioners are welcome to bring their own candles to be blessed during the liturgy.
Tuesday, February 3, 2026 – Memorial of St. Blaise
Mass Time: 8:00 AM
Special Rite: The Blessing of Throats. Following Mass, this traditional blessing is given, invoking the intercession of St. Blaise for protection from illnesses of the throat and other ailments.
The Church celebrates two beautiful liturgical traditions on consecutive days. On the Feast of the Presentation, we recall the encounter of the Holy Family with Simeon and Anna in the Temple and bless candles as a sign of Christ our Light. On the Memorial of St. Blaise, we continue a centuries-old practice of asking this saint's prayers for physical health, particularly of the throat.
All parishioners and visitors are warmly invited to attend these 8:00 AM Masses to participate in these meaningful blessings.
