The aim of St. Vincent de Paul Society is to bear witness to the faith in the exercise of true charity, development of charitable projects and of social justice. Some of the regular activities are the “Outreach Program” where several groups prepare sandwiches, coffee and treats on Friday afternoons and go downtown (East side) in the evening to distribute the same. Volunteers also do home visits within the parish boundaries to the needy whenever requested. Some of the volunteers help out at the Collingwood Community Center with the “Shower and Breakfast Program” on Saturday mornings. In addition, St. Vincent de Paul Society organizes toy and clothing drives, giving trees etc., during the Christmas season when the poor feel especially vulnerable and depressed.
