Dear Parish Family,

It is good to be back with you in the pages of our parish bulletin after a short summer break. I trust that the past weeks have given each of us some moments of rest, renewal, and joy with family and friends. Summer often provides us with the opportunity to pause, to step back from our routines, and to return refreshed for the journey ahead.

As September begins, many parts of parish life are also resuming. Our school has reopened its doors, welcoming children, parents, and staff into a new academic year. We pray that this year may be one of growth in wisdom, friendship, and faith for all our young people. In the same spirit, many of our choirs have returned after their well-deserved rest. Music lifts our worship, and we are grateful to all those who give of their time and talent to lead us in song. It is indeed a joy to be back together again as a community, renewed and ready to continue our walk with the Lord.

This Sunday’s Gospel from Luke (14:25–33) reminds us that discipleship is not a light or easy path. Jesus tells the great crowds that to follow Him requires commitment, sacrifice, and even the willingness to “carry the cross.” At first hearing, these words may sound harsh or demanding. Yet what the Lord is asking of us is wholeheartedness — that our love for Him is not secondary or conditional, but the very center of our lives.

Just as students must dedicate themselves to their studies and musicians to their practice, so too must disciples dedicate themselves to Christ. He calls us to put God first, above comfort, convenience, or even personal plans. This does not mean neglecting family or daily responsibilities but rather learning to see everything we do — in our homes, our workplaces, our parish — in the light of God’s love and purpose.

As we return from summer into the rhythm of a new season, may this Gospel (Luke 14:25–33) challenge us to renew our own commitment as followers of Jesus. Let us ask for the grace to walk faithfully with Him, carrying our crosses with courage, and supporting one another as a community of faith. Together, let us begin again with renewed strength, joy, and hope.
