Trust God in Difficult Times and Be His Witnesses
The readings for this Sunday offer us a powerful message of hope, courage, and discipleship. In the first reading (Jeremiah 20:10-13), the prophet Jeremiah finds himself surrounded by opposition, criticism, and persecution. Yet, despite his fears and sufferings, he places his trust completely in God. He proclaims with confidence: “The Lord is with me like a mighty champion.” Jeremiah teaches us that faith does not remove difficulties from our lives; rather, it gives us the strength to face them with courage and perseverance.
In the Gospel (Matthew 10:26-33), Jesus encourages His disciples not to be afraid. Three times He tells them, “Do not be afraid.” He reminds them that God’s loving providence extends even to the sparrows and that each one of us is precious in His sight. In a world where faith is often challenged or ignored, Jesus calls us to be courageous witnesses of His love, truth, and mercy. Our Christian faith is not meant to be hidden but lived openly through our words, actions, and daily choices.
The second reading (Romans 5:12-15) reminds us that while sin entered the world through one man, God’s grace has overflowed abundantly through Jesus Christ. No matter how difficult our circumstances may be, God’s grace is always greater than our struggles. As the Catechism of the Catholic Church teaches, “Faith is a personal adherence of the whole man to God” (CCC 176). Trusting God means believing that He remains faithful even when the path ahead seems uncertain.
As a parish family, last Sunday we have experienced a beautiful example of faith, unity, and witness through St. Mary’s International Fair. I extend my heartfelt gratitude to all who worked tirelessly in planning, organizing, volunteering, sponsoring, and participating in this wonderful event. Your generosity, dedication, and spirit of cooperation made the fair a success.
Congratulations to all who won prizes, especially those who were fortunate in the raffle draw! While fundraising is an important aspect of the fair, its deeper significance lies in bringing our parish community together. It is a visible sign of our unity, friendship, and shared commitment to the mission of St. Mary’s Parish.
Let us continue to be active and involved members of the St. Mary’s family, supporting one another and witnessing to Christ through our faith and service.
God bless you all!
