Holy Week Schedule 2026
Who is Jesus

PC-04.26.2026 - The Good Shepherd - A Voice We Can Trust

by Father Gabriel de Chadarevian, OP

On this Good Shepherd Sunday, Jesus reveals something deeply personal:
“I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly” (John 10:10).

Jesus is not distant. He is our Shepherd—He knows us, calls us by name, and lays down His life for us. In a world filled with noise, anxiety, and competing voices, this Gospel asks a simple but urgent question: Whose voice are we listening to?

In the early Church, the people were “cut to the heart” by Peter’s preaching and asked, “What should we do?” (Acts 2:37). His answer remains the path for us today: repent, turn to Christ, and receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. This is how the abundant life of Jesus becomes real in us—not by our effort alone, but by the Spirit alive within us.

Many today are busy but spiritually tired, connected yet inwardly restless. The Good Shepherd offers more than survival—He offers peace, direction, and healing. As Saint Peter reminds us, “by His wounds you have been healed” (1 Peter 2:24). Jesus not only leads us; He carries us, especially when we are weak or wounded.

At St. Mary’s, this message is deeply relevant. We are invited to become a people who recognize the Shepherd’s voice—through prayer, Scripture, conscience, and above all, the Eucharist. Here, the Shepherd feeds His flock with His very life.

This week, take a moment of silence each day and simply ask:
“Lord, help me to hear Your voice.”

He is speaking.
He is leading.
And He desires to bring each one of us into the fullness of life.
